Welcome to Embrace East Africa ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Embrace East Africa platform, website, and services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Embrace East Africa is an awareness campaign and publishing platform dedicated to promoting the East African Community (EAC) integration agenda across learning institutions and communities in the region. These Terms govern your use of all services provided through this platform.
2. Accounts & Registration

To access most features of the Service, you must register for an account. By creating an account, you agree to:

3. Authenticity & Content Policy

All content you publish must be your own genuine, human-authored work. Content related to East African integration topics is especially encouraged. Submitting AI-generated content as your own is a violation.
Embrace East Africa is built on authentic human expression. By submitting any content, you declare that:
- The content is entirely your own original, human-authored work
- It was not generated or substantially drafted by any AI tool or language model
- It was not copied, plagiarised, or ghostwritten without attribution
- You are the sole or clearly credited author of all submitted material
- You understand that misrepresentation of authorship may result in account suspension
4. Your Content & Intellectual Property

You own your writing. By publishing it on Embrace East Africa, you give us permission to display it on the platform. You can remove it at any time.
You retain all ownership rights to the content you create and publish on Embrace East Africa ("Your Content"). By submitting or publishing content on the Service, you grant Embrace East Africa a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, reproduce, display, and distribute Your Content for the purposes of operating and publicising the Service and the EAC awareness campaign.
5. Prohibited Conduct

Do not use Embrace East Africa to harm, deceive, or exploit others. Violations may result in account termination.

Harass, bully, or threaten other users
Post content that is defamatory, obscene, or hateful
Impersonate another person or organisation
Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems
Publish content that violates applicable laws
Submit plagiarised content from another author
Use the platform to advertise or solicit commercial services
Publish content that undermines EAC member state sovereignty or promotes division
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its servers
6. Writing Competitions

Each competition has its own rules. Read them before entering. All entries must relate to East African integration themes. Judges' decisions are final.
Embrace East Africa hosts writing competitions on topics related to East African integration, identity, and opportunity. Each competition has its own rules, eligibility requirements, deadlines, and judging criteria published on the relevant Competition page. By entering, you agree to the applicable Competition Rules in addition to these Terms. All entries are subject to our Authenticity Policy.
7. Outreach Sessions & School Visits

When you participate in an Embrace East Africa campus visit or provide session feedback, you consent to your feedback being used (anonymously or attributed, as you choose) to improve our programme.
Feedback collected during outreach sessions — including responses submitted through our session review form — is used solely to improve the quality of our awareness campaign. Session data may be shared in aggregate with partner schools and institutions. Individual responses are treated as confidential unless you expressly consent to attribution.
8. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, incorporated into these Terms by reference. The Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect personal information, including special protections for users under 18.
9. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account for any violation of these Terms. You may close your account at any time by contacting us at support@embraceeastafrica.org. Upon closure, your public content will be removed within 30 days unless you request immediate removal.
10. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. EMBRACE EAST AFRICA DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. IN NO EVENT SHALL EMBRACE EAST AFRICA BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms periodically. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email and/or by a prominent notice on the platform at least 14 days before changes take effect.
